Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below shows reserved time periods, not exams that have been confirmed. Check with your instructor if the final exam for the course will be conducted during this time.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification tests. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam information. If you need special accommodations because of chronic disease, visual or hearing impairment or other disabilities make contact with the exam provider and provide the information when you register.
Faculty may find their exam times through the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. Additionally, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses where an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes in the evening are scheduled during the regular class meeting times of the final examination weeks.

Registration
Students are encouraged to look up the exam schedule online. It is important to remember that the final schedule of exams may change at any moment. Therefore, students should consult their instructors to make sure they have the correct date and time for their exam. Students should also print out the official list to take to their exam.
Students must also familiarize themselves with the rules and conditions of the exam in addition to the schedule. These are available on the individual exam pages. After registering, students acknowledge that they have read and agree to these conditions and terms.

Exam sites try their best to accommodate students with special requirements. The nature and degree of these needs must be stated on the registration form and confirmed by an attestation of a doctor. The exam locations must also respect and maintain confidentiality.
If students are scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they must contact their department or instructor to schedule a make-up test. It is possible to have three examinations on the same day. However, this could result in a lot of stress and impact the quality of the exam. In addition, the professor might not be able conduct a makeup test on another day.
Before taking the exam students must prepare by studying their study material and practicing their German skills. The exam is a test on paper that tests the ability to speak, read and write in German. The test results are given using a scale of A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam receive an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate demonstrates the achievement of language level A1. This level corresponds to the initial stage of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students should bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. If they do not present an acceptable photo ID are disqualified from the examination.
Fees
You must pay an examination fee for the opportunity to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This fee is in addition the course fee.
Practice tests allow you to get a feel for the style of the questions, their wording, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They help you assess your knowledge, identify areas of weakness and increase your chances of passing the exam.
Please be aware that the exam fee is not refundable. Exam results can only by sent via email and not by phone.
